The One-Stop Shop for Your Municipal Project
Municipalities and city engineers face tough challenges, including tight
budgets and aging infrastructures. Whether you need painting, wall-covering,
or drywall finishing, the Finishing Contractors Association of Chicago will
help you realize efficiencies that reduce the total cost of ownership over the
life of your projects
The FCAC is the one-stop shop for new municipal construction, water
towers, bridges, maintenance, and repair work. What's more, we can
substantiate our claim that our workforce is the most talented, well trained,
and safety-focused in the industry for municipal work.
FCAC members complete extensive classroom, hands-on, and job site training that gives
them the skills to produce top-notch results. Our craftsmen and women learn to master
industrial coatings, wall-covering, and painting in the most rigorous apprenticeship programs.
Finally, all our members satisfy the
Responsible Bidder Ordinance and the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act.
This means the contractor on your municipal project will meet requirements for publicly
funded projects-including having proper insurance coverage, meeting EEO requirements,
and complying with all state laws for doing business in Illinois. To obtain a more detailed
description of these requirements, click here.
All of this adds up to on-time projects, productivity, and longer-term operational cost savings.
With an FCAC member as your partner, your completed project is guaranteed to last.
Greening Your Municipality with LEEDŽ
Sustainability is not only a national initiative, in many municipalities, it's become a
requirement. That's why it's critical that your finishing contractor implement green
standards correctly and understand their effect on project cost and scheduling. With
an FCAC professional on board, you're assured that your project will comply with,
recognized standards, while staying on budget and schedule.
This year the FCAC contractors are focused on
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED)
training. LEED is the nationally accepted
benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green
buildings. Developed by the United States Green Building Council, the LEED
program gives owners and operators the tools to set a points rating system for
certification. Call on an FCAC contractor to ensure that your municipal project
meets these important guidelines.
What is the Responsible Bidder Ordinance?
This is an ordinance that sets minimal requirements for all contractors and subcontractors bidding on publicly
funded projects in the political jurisdiction covered by the ordinance. The requirements are then incorporated
into all bid documents (similar to other state and local regulations) so that all potential bidders will know what
is expected of them.
What are the Specific Requirements for Contractors and Subcontractors?
All bidders must:
1. Comply with all laws pre-requisite to doing business in Illinois
2. Produce evidence of a federal employer tax number or social security number
3. Provide evidence of compliance with Equal Opportunity Employer requirements
4. Provide evidence of all specified insurance coverage
5. Comply with all provisions of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act
6. Must be participating in a U.S. Department of Labor approved and registered apprenticeship program
7. Comply with any other additional requirements a community may find beneficial
